Ferries from Zara for Ancona depart from the new port of Gazenica, the Passenger Terminal is well connected to the city centre by regular buses and taxis. What is the distance between the two ports?

Gazenica, the new port of Zara from where the international ferry lines depart is 80 nautical miles from Ancona. The connection ship Zara Ancona is seasonal, with two trips per week, Monday and Friday, from the end of June until the first week of September.

How long is the ferry trip from Zadar to Ancona?

The crossing takes a total of nine hours and the connection is provided by the ship Marko Polo of Jadrolinja, equipped with all the necessary on-board services to make the journey pleasant and comfortable.

 Are there hydrofoils or fast ferries on the Zadar Ancona route?

There are no catamarans or hydrofoils on this route, but Jadrolinija's Marko Polo ferry is a very fast vessel and, sailing at 22 knots, covers the Zadar Ancona distance in just nine hours.

Documents required for travel

In order to avoid unpleasant surprises and inconveniences during check-in procedures at the port before taking the ship Zara Ancona, we remind you that entry into Italy is permitted to all European citizens in possession of an identity card issued by their country of origin, in paper or digital form, provided it is original and valid for expatriation.

After collecting their boarding passes, passengers with and without vehicles should go to the quay where the ship is anchored and follow the instructions of the staff in charge before boarding.

When booking you can choose from a drop-down menu the accommodation during the voyage, which can be a comfortable cabin, inside or outside with a porthole. Some cabins have a private bathroom, with shower and change of linen. Others only have a small wash basin.

Travelling by car or motorbike on the Zadar Ancona ferry

You have a car and want to book a place on the ferry to the return from Zadar to Ancona? Then you will have to choose the correct type to which your car corresponds, according to the dimensions on the registration certificate. If you check in a car of a different size, you will have to pay the difference, which is calculated on the standard rate and without taking into account the price on offer at the time of booking.

Bringing a pet on board the ship

Taking your pet on holiday is an act of love, but it must be done respecting the rules and conditions dictated by the company, for the safety and well-being of all. Owners must be equipped with muzzle e leash for medium and large dogs. For small dogs and cats it is obligatory for them to travel within a kennel.

In addition, the authorities at the time of embarkation or disembarkation may ask for a health certificate, the animal's European passport listing previous vaccinations and the dates of upcoming booster vaccinations.

I am travelling without a vehicle, where can I leave my luggage

All passengers who do not travel with their own vehicle and have difficulty carrying their luggage onto the ship will be able to leave their luggage free of charge for a total weight of maximum 30 kg,at the entrance to the ferry in a secure area and collect them upon disembarkation.
